What is Reiki?
Reiki means universal life energy. It is an energy therapy that enhances the natural healing system of the body. Reiki promotes balance and restoration of the body and mind and facilitates the power within each of us to assist in our own healing. Reiki is rapidly growing in hospitals all over the world. Studies of Reiki have shown significant reduction in pain, increased feelings of relaxation, reduction in stress and a sense of well-being.
What can I expect in a Reiki Session?
A complete Reiki session is offered to a fully clothed recipient who is lying on a treatment table or sitting comfortably supported in a chair. Most commonly, Reiki is offered through light, non-invasive touch with the practitioner’s hands placed and held on a series of locations on the head and front and back of the torso. The placement of the hands should never be intrusive, nor should there be any pressure. The Reiki practitioner can hold her hands just off the body if needed or preferred by the recipient. People use Reiki to relax and strengthen their wellbeing; reduce pain, anxiety, and fatigue; help manage symptoms; reduce side effects of medications; and support recovery after injuries or surgery.
